Just when you think it can't get any worse...

Sad news.

My dad has been diagnosed with cancer. Metastatic. Doctors using phrases like "radiation to keep it contained" and "painkillers to keep you as comfortable as possible for the time you have left."

It's in his lungs, liver and adrenal glands.

I was with Dad and Mom when they saw the tumor that is causing his back pain on the MRI for the first time, then with them when their doctor told them the news.

Today I was visiting when Dad had to go to the drugstore to buy adult diapers because he's been warned the radiation therapy may give him diarrhea.

He came home with two-pound boxes of candy for everyone in the family for Valentine's Day. He never gives us Valentines.

My Mom's birthday is March 23.

I hope he makes it.

I am so, so sorry to learn of your dad's diagnosis. How devastating for all of you, cancer is awful--that's for sure.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I lost my dad 18 months ago to Alzheimer's, I know how rough it is to see your parents suffer. Take care of yourself, too.

Hi Deb, I don't often comment but read your blog all the time. I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. That sort of news just sucks.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Please know that our hearts and prayers are with you. Having just lost my dad last year my best advise is take the time to spend as much time with him as you are able. Those nights of me knitting while he watched his favourite shows turned out to be precious time well spent.
Please know we are thinking of you!
